merchant of the night
crossing an urban sea

an alley cat watching
us kiss behind the wall

my drugstore doll
cradle paint stains
your highbrow dress

looking out at
the world through
a book of stars

mad as a hatter

child of incidences
my mind searching
monk water ashes

insurmountable
hum of the world
attacking love’s
astral connection

discourteous voices
surrounding
your father’s death

merchant of the night
i’ve seen your
mast sailing this way

servitude of the dossier

watching the machines

of the fields pounding

against your mother’s
heart tools of
Armageddon, fill
the sky with their

dust condemn them
all i have no reason

or need to ask you why

wanting only one last kiss

to hold you this last time

scientist
wearing
cloths
stained
with
earth’s
blood

nature’s war against
the
machines of automation

paint your words
red black and green
my drugstore doll

a gathering
of the dead waiting
along the shore gods
breath touching

your mind watching
you there standing
calm and deliberant

until the sails of the
merchant arrives

he can not
separate
us forever

two lost souls
crossing earth’s
ocean sky, life’s
journey an end
to all suffering

kiss me my drugstore doll

so i will never
forget
your loving scent
