Keep Your Fingers Crossed

Keep your fingers crossed she said
As time went ticking by
Keep your fingers crossed she said
As a tear fell from her eye
Time is long and hard these days
As they go speeding past
She holds her breath & hopes & prays
Today is not his last
Keep your fingers crossed she said
With his tiny hand in hers
Waiting for the MRI
Praying it isn’t worse
Keep your fingers crossed she said
Looking at his beautiful face
Cancer has surly taken its tole
His sprigs of hair are out of place
Looking at his Mom he said
The sweetest thing he could say
I don’t need to cross my fingers Mom
Cuz God said not today
